Get your tickets now for 'Broadway,' the Temptations

Tickets go on sale Friday for the musical “Oliver!” and the latest incarnation of ’60s Motown group The Temptations.

Coming to the theater at Rabobank Convention Center Sept. 28 for one night only as part of the “Broadway in Bakersfield” series, the musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ tale of orphan Oliver Twist produced memorable hits “Consider Yourself,” “Food, Glorious Food” and “Where Is Love?”

Tickets for the 7 p.m. show are $25, $35 and $45 through the box office, Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com or 322-2525. A special $5 discount is available to children 14 and under.

Just around the corner is “Chicago,” another “Broadway in Bakersfield” event, coming Sept. 7 to the Rabobank theater. Tickets for the 7 p.m. show are $30, $40 and $50 through the box office and Ticketmaster.

The smooth-stepping Temptations will slide into the Fox Theater Oct. 5.

The group blasted into stardom in 1964 with Smokey Robinson’s tune “The Way You Do the Things You Do.” The group’s hits include “My Girl,” “I Can’t Get Next To You,” “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” and more.

The classic lineup was Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin. The current lineup consists of Otis Williams, Terry Weeks, G.C. Cameron, Ron Tyson and Joe Herndon.
